Default project needs shot in arm

Its been almost 3 years since my sanchita was reborn. in that time, i have probably drivin her 50 miles. let me be real hontest with you my c3 amigos. GOD PLEASE DONT LET ME DIE SANDING THIS CAR!!! i just really do not like doing it and it could be done for hours a day for several weeks. i am a perfectionis and i know this will not turn out perfect and that eats at me to say the least.

soon i will be ready to remove the doors and the hood.

so the question is how do you keep yourself motivated in long neverending tasks like blocking a corvette or rebuilding the frame or making your bed for that matter.

once the exterior is perfect i will focus on the interior after that i guess i will start over.

Walk away from it for a few weeks. Cover it up, move it to another garage, whatever, so you aren't looking at it.

In a few weeks, get a ride in a buddy's Corvette, like go to a show or swap meet with him, and the fever will be back. You will be out working to midnight on it again.

You just need a break.

Been there too many times myself.

This is how basket cases and project cars are born. People get tired of working on them or their interest changes and they sell them. I was in the same boat on my car, the car sat for several months in a unassembled state because I was unabel to get motivated to finish her. We had a freeze one night which broke a water pipe in the attic of the garage, water flowed for 8 hours. by the time I returned home everything was water logged and frozen. I was pissed, but this became a turning point for me, finish the car or sell it as is. This was 17 years ago and I hate to think of all the fun I would have missed and all the new friends I would not have made if I had sold my car.
I know its a chore to do the work yourself but when its done you'll have pride in saying I did it myself.
Grab a beer, sit in the garage, look at you car and think of the possibilities.
Good luck.

I know what you mean about the sanding process. i've been at it for several weeks now and still am not ready for primer.

You have to keep at it. Resale prices in this stage suck!

I try to accomplish one thing every night. Even if it is a small item, it's off the list. Sit down in the garage tonight with a beer and make a list of simple things you can do every night for the rest of the week and then hit em one night at a time. Repeat for next week.

Don't give up, we're all in this together. Someday soon we'll be posting shiny pictures instead of rusty ones.
