On my '73, one concern is the overspray, yellow!, from a previous, mediocre paint job that bugs the crap out of me at shows, especially in the afternoon when the sun is setting and shining on the underside. (I try to park facing the sun). My insulation is in pretty good condition and was wondering about just spraying it with some rattlecan flat black either removing it or masking everything. I had considered a new one since they're not that much, but, most catalogs state that they're NOT pre-molded as are factory originals. Has anyone used these and how do they look/fit? Thoughts? Thanks....Randy
Just put A Mid America Insulation barrier on the under hood it fit great it looks good used the old re-tainers after cleaning them up. Would recomend it .Used A flat black paint ,taped off the silver paint areas and painted the borders of the hood inside it looks way better. At the same time I put one of those winshield wipers cover on it also look way better.
I bought mine from MA and it was also the unmolded type. I painted black and it looks much nicer now. I saw a thread recently about this subject and someone suggested buying from heating/AC supplier.
Thanks to all of you. Those that are NOT pre-molded look pretty good. Since mine is in pretty fair shape I think I'll give it a shot of paint, then, if it doesn't suit me I'll grab a new one.
