There are holes on both sides, that you can get to from inside the wiper galley. These holes are there so a long rod, like a screw driver, can go through this hole and contact the latch itself. Push the screw driver through, find the latch via trial and error, and push. You will feel it, with a little practice, and the hood will pop open if you get the latch just right.

I wish I knew this about four years ago. I didn't have a computer back then and every vette owner I talked to had no clue. Out came the circular saw.

No frig'n way man. I would have jacked it up, and found some way to get up to the hood release cable, and done it the hard way. NO way would I cut it up unless I HAD to.

Belive me, I tried from underneath, the left side, the right side, wheel wells, shoving $hit up there in hopes of pushing it, anything I could I think of, but no go. The problem was it's a 72 and I was doing engine work when it happened, so I coulden't open the wiper door or I would have seen the removeable plates. I coulden't get it from underneath because of the way its positioned and the P/B booster right there and A/C on the other side. It wasn't to big a deal anyway, I needed a cowl hood with the Perf. RPM. What I did do though is cut the hood right over the air cleaner so it could be used with a blower or scoop or whatever, then just got all contortionist on it.

i got the passenger side by using a wire hanger and going up through the bottem and hooking the cross cable. it popped right up! the drivers side is a different story. i cant find the cap to pull to pop the latch. i can fit my hand in behind the front fender and reach the latch but still cant get it to go. i will keep you posted on my progress. thanks for the replies...
