looking to buy a set of small block valve covers WITHOUT lettering on them..... i'm going for a plan look and dont need everyones damn name on my car........ i heard some covers dont fit well/etc..... i could just search jegs/summit but figured i would ask here first..
Lots of plain, chrome valve covers out there for SBC. As long as they're not too thin metal, they should seal just fine. As is often the case, you get what you pay for.
I'm kind of partial to the L81 and LT1/L82 covers myself. Understated and very solid but geting pretty pricey.
Not wanting to hijack this thread.... how would I polish my LT1 covers in place? Or give me the bad news and tell me to remove um.
I think you can polish them in place but it'll be a little more elbow grease. I used progressively finer emery cloth untill they were quite smooth, then Mother's aluminum wheel polish. The certainly don't look as good as SEVENT6's chromed ones, but I think they look pretty good. The nice thing about your LT1 covers is that they are already paiint free and probably pretty smooth. My L81 covers came from the factory powder coated in black and the castings weren't nearly as good. I would have lost my mind trying to do them in place.
I just bought a pair of these for mine out at Carlisle last week. Paid 100.00 for the pair with the PCV and breather grommets. I just has notch out for the intake manifold. They went on perfect with no leaks and look great. I painted in between orange like the rest of my engine.
