VIN is on the driver's windshield post. Will decode as follows:

1 Chevrolet Division of General Motors
Z Corvette
37 Body style (37 for coupes, 67 for convertibles)
J Engine code (J for L48, T for L82, Z for the big block)
4 Year of manufacture
S plant code for St. Louis
4 Car line series (4 for Corvette in '74)
XXXXX Consecutive unit number.

Trim tag on the driver's door hinge post will list original exterior paint code, interior trim code, and time/build date.

Engine code and VIN derivative are stamped on the block pad at the front of the right head.

All Corvettes 54-81 were assembled at St. Louis, Missouri. Some '81s were assembled at the new plant at Bowling Green, Kentucky. All 82 to present Corvettes have been assembled at Bowling Green.
