I have an issue with my '80 Glass T-Tops. First noticed the sound of air rushing in going down the Interstate. The front left corner of the right t-top is very loose. I thought at first that I needed to shim up the seating pin. Upon closer examination I noticed that the glass top is separating from the metal frame.
I can't find any help in Chilton's. I was hoping someone could offer some help as to how the tops are put together. How many layers (upper glass, lower gloass, metal frame, etc...) are there ??? I only have the glass tops so I am a little leary about delving too deep into messing with them without some guidance. Has anyone else experienced this ?

deffiantly try to repair it! i think new ones in mid america are running 1200, pretty sure tho it has been a long time sinse ive looked,
I wish I could help you. No problems with the glass on my 80 T Top. Ya gotta find a repair- maybe an auto glass shop can give you some suggestions. $1200 replacement cost is way too pricey . Good luck. Let us know the results.
You need to do a search for t top repair or glass t tops. If you look there are more than one place that does repairs.
I don't know for sure but I would hate the thought of the glass blowing off while going down the road. The tops are expensive and it also will cost you if the glass comes off and creates an accident.
I have looked for astro tops on the net and came upon severial places that repairs tops.
The AIM shows how the glass tops were assembled. In a nutshell, there is an aluminum frame which gets cemented to the glass. Plastic trim and hardware then mounts to the frame. The process is a bit more involved than this explanation, but that's the gist of it.
I have a repair to one of my tops I would like to make if I knew what type of cement was used to bond the things together!
