Default Power Window Return Spring

Spring on the driver's side door of my 71 coupe is missing. Window still works, but goes up slowly. I have a replacement spring and new mounting stud to put in this weekend. I'm just wondering if anyone that has done this before has any tricks or suggestions, or is this a fairly straightforward job?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Be extremely careful and make sure the door glass is properly supported. That's heavy stuff, the stamped doors have sharp edges around the openings, and it's possible to ruin a finger if the door glass happens to fall.

might as well get your band aids and 4 letter words ready. wouldn't hurt to have a beer or 2 before you strat too. i've did that job a couple times. not fun. good luck and read the procedure in Haynes or Chiltons first, there are do's and don'ts to the job. and yeah....don't let that spring get away form you....it could leave a mark.

It's a PITA! I replaced the regulator and motor while I was in there as I didn't want to do it again!
