Default Side Pipes Redux

OK, I know this has been addressed in different forms here, but I'd love some input on my specific interest.
I will be putting side pipes on my '69 BB; at the moment, I am budget-concious, which immediately rules out any NOS or factory-auth type replacements. Maybe later
Anyhoo, I love the look of factory-ish pipes, not the chrome hooker jobs or anything real pimpy. The motor has 4 into 1 anyway, so there will be no real 4-4-1 hookup. I also want something that's cool-sounding but not straight-pipe loud (took those off the Harley, too), and doesn't completely kill HP. It appears we avoid reverse-flow, so that basically leaves glasspacks. I've looked at Patriots, Dynamax, Sweet Thunder, the stuff on eBay (which appears to be Patriots) and the stuff in various catalogs.
What's the recommendation for something that meets the criteria above? I do understand that I'll need a muffler shop, basically to tie the headers into the pipes, too. I'm open to used stuff if there's something around that's presentable, cover-wise, but I'm sure the GM covers, even used, are pricey.
Fire away, please!

Did you check the archives? I have a sticky thread on the search feature that's in the C3 Tech section. That might help you.

Apparantly I dont get your question then. Cheap sidepipes that look and sound good. What'd I miss.

Are you wanting some of those goofy sidepipes with 3 fake pipes and one real one?

Stainless Works shorty headers and sidepipes, fiberglass covers, paint to match car or silver/black. About $1000.
