Default Body mount points

Hi, we are ready to take the body off of our '71 Vette. When we do, where are the best places to set it on stands? We have four tall jackstands, but need to be able to replace the rear mount brackets, so those are out. I am thinking the #2 and #3 spots, but what about the #1 and #3 spots? Or is are there better places? We are removing the body this afternoon. We need and naswer quickly. Thanks.

If you have already pulled the nose off, 2 & 3 are fine. The majority of the weight is in between those mounts. If the nose is still connected, you will need an additional support for it, especially if the radiator support is still attached.

good Luck

I hope your not saying your setting the body down on jack stands? I would set it down on some old tires or some sort of thick cushion. For the frame, set them at #2 and #3, put them far apart as you can, long as its on the straight leg of the frame rail. If your nose heavy with engine in, you can put stands at #3 and under front sway bar mounts as well. If you want more details don't hesitate to ask.

You need a body dolly. Noland Adams and others have plans available.
