Default Sad day for me

After a year and a half my daughter decided to move back with her mom. Unfortunitly, my daughter and wife can't seem to get along anymore. It's probably for the best, but you hate to admit you failed. Today my heart hurts.

Sorry, I didn't mean to get to personal; I just feel like I can talk to you guys.

An old timer once said. Raising a girl is hard just for the first 18 years.
Just hang in there buddy.

Girls go through significant social and emotional changes when growing up, so don't beat yourself up over her decision. Probably has very little to do with you. Girls often have special relationships with their mothers just like sons have with the fathers.

Bummer that the two women in your life can't get along. You're not alone, but I'm sure it feels like it. Hope her mother's place isn't too far away. There's always the phone. Use it.

I am sorry very well knowing how you feel..being seperated for 2 years and the bid D coming into finalization shortly, I have had my daughter every wed, thurs, friday for those 2 years..not missing a visit. Now, just a month away have been literally forced into standard possession, due to the other half being of no so amicable spirit. I dread this day..will keep you in our prayers.

I've been there and remember all too well the pain.
The day we went before the judge, he said "when I sign this you will no longer be husband and wife but you will always remain parents"
I never forgot it, kept right on being Daddy and as a result my son and I have a fantastic relationship.
Stay in your daughter's life as much as you can and she will know you love her.

Been there with ya man. I had my daughter living with my present wife and me from 9-18 yrs of age. The young woman in her couldn't hang with the stepmother status. It really tugs you in two directions. Your daughter will mature and become more appreciative of all she's had. You will always remain her Dad. My thoughts are with you.

...wife and daughters are two different iussues...you can loose 10 wives and at the end of the day that won't be a problem (on the contrary 90% of the times it's a good thing...pls note i said 'at the end of the day...'), on the contrary you'll never 'loose' a son or a daughter, they always will need the father, sooner or later they'll be back...they're like the moon around the earth, it seems far away but it always is there around. just wait, you'll see

the priest says 'until death will separe you'...but he does not mean husband and wife, he really means sons and fathers.

Hey man, your are not a failure. You raised her to this point and obviously care about her. Give her some time and she will come around.

Heck, my daughter (12) can't get along with her mom or her little brother most of the time.

I have a daughter too, and I'm sure it's hard not to have her around you. I don't know how old she is, but they grow up very fast. When I travel and return, it seems as she grown up in just the short time I've been gone. She's young and things happen rapidly.

Just remember one thing, and it's something I always try to keep in mind when my daughter is driving me up a wall. Think back to the first time she smiled at you and said dada. For those that don't know, dada is most kid's first word, it the easiest word for them to say. How can your heart not melt when you think of those things? And besides, she'll always be you're daughter, even when she tells you to #@$% off.

I just re-read this, and it doesn't quite sound how I intended it to. What I meant was, she'll always be your daughter, even during the difficult and rebellious teen years when it's really tense. At least that’s the way it was when I was a teen, and I expect the same from my kids.

Kids,,,,,what a trip, I've had mine with me since their mother and I divorced 10 years ago. My son is away at his first year of college and my daughter starts college next fall, will I miss them,,,,,,yes, I already do, but I need to let them go and experience things, hopefully they will remember me and what I tried to teach them about living life correctly. When they were both here and they would go for their visitation they would come home and hug me and thank me. I was only trying to be me,, the guy that my parents could be proud of even tho I've been married 3 times. Actually when you think about it the first day they get on that school bus for kindergarten you lose them,,,,,,to the world, Just enjoy them while you can and let them live,,,thats what it should be about,,painfully so,, Peace,,,Moosie

Buddy, sorry to hear that, but hang in there, as has been said...you will always be her dad and she will always know that and as time goes by appreciate you even more.

sometimes, having a place to put down your thoughts and feeling, is important.Positive feedback certianly helps one feel he/she is at a safe place. Sometimes our spirt, perhaps our soul, needs a safe place, way distant from our other places, to express what truely is close to our hearts. It seems you are experienceing loss, rejection, loneiness. Two of those are BS in your case, ah,loneiness...what a bear that can be.

Hang in there Bud, My oldest also just moved back to california to live with her mom, and even though me and my ex are on non speaking terms, I cannot put her down for her decisions, we still talk often and she knows how much I care for her... Give your daughter some time to adjust, she'll remember that you still are her dad and the things that you have done for her.. like they all said...TEENAGERS...

My 12 year old daughter lives with her mother and though I do have a good relationship with her, sometimes I still have to tell myself this:

The returns may not always be at a premium, but keep making deposits anyway, as love is a long term investment.
