Finally got her back from paint (PICS)
I am over the moon with the job he has done !!
Anyway - heres the pics:-
My camera seems to have problems with the two pin stripes close together when I resize down to post the pics - but you get the idea......

The wheels and tyres are a bit dusty from being at the shop and they managed to fit the gaskets for the wing mirrors upside down , so the mirrors are too close to the window - I have fixed that now.
Anyway I think it looks a 10 out of 10 now and it probably better now than it would have when it rolled off the line in 82 , the problem is that its down hill from now on!!

It started out that I wanted to re paint the front end because the hood fade was faded and spider cracked , I wanted the fades painted to eliminate the problem in the future , then I decided to get the door lock damage fixed too ( going to fit remote locking to stop that again) . Then I thought that having done that then the rest of it would look old against the front end being new so......... I took the plunge and got the whole job done and I think it is worth every penny.

I removed the door panel and you can see the mirror mounting bolts. The front bolt is fairly easy , if you remove the two bolts that hold the window guide upright to the door shell then you can push the guide to one side and access the nut through the hole in the door with a socket on a straight driver or extension. The second one is a little more of a problem , some say you need to remove the window
, I didn't , If you remove the window guides (the furry things that hold the window against the outer skin of the door front and back) then block (i used a roll of tape) the window back away from the outer skin. You can then with a bit of fiddling remove the rear nut from the mirror. Before you totally remove the nuts holding the mirror on , disconnect the power mirror wire loom connected under the dash and tape securely a length of string to the end of the loom , then pull the loom with the string attatched back into the door.
Remove the mirror flip the gasket and re-attatch - again the rear nut is tricky but once you get it started its ok. then re tape the loom to the string that you have threaded through the door and pull it back through the door and reconnect under the dash - Job Done!!
It sounds a PITA and in reality it was but I did both sides in about 1 1/2 hrs.
Hope this helps

I think they look Soooooo much better painted to match.

Awsome!!!!
