Default 1977 Corvette

The is a repost,,, It was in the for sale section but I dount really want to sell it.

I was told by a local Corvette shop that this car lost half its value because the modifications that were done by a previous owner. Matching numbers 1977. Needs a dash pad but other than that the interior is in great shape. What do you think its worth? Guesses?

http://mysite.verizon.net/gsisserson/corvette.html
Yes its a 1977,, Checked the vin on the windshield and frame

What's the deal with the license plates? 444-VVV in one and 444-444 in another, I can't tell what another photo shows.

Lost value, Yes. Lost half the value, probably not.

Why change the front and rear clip? was it a crash car? Be sure to check out the frame.

A 77 is no collector's item to begin with. To guess what that car is worth we need some info on the drive train and interior. Also, like somebody said, there could be previous collision damage.

The fact that its a '77 and not worth much to begin with might preclude it from losing half its value; however, the complete body panel change hurts the value very, very significantly.

The only way you can sell it for anything is when its purchased by a buyer who simply doesn't know any better. That can definitely happen, but I would value it very poorly and would advise a buyer to do the same. The "matching numbers" are essentially worthless when wrapped in a complete incorrect body.

No mention of what kind of title it has, possibly salvage or rebuilt ? Someone went thru a great amount of apparently nice work to change things over, it looks nice and if it runs good & you dont really want to sell it, why bother, unless you bought it as an investment. Peace,,,Moosie

True, but they do have value. They are the last of the tunnelback cars and the first with the redesigned console and center cluster.

I like them, but I'm also not in the market for one.

Good point. That's a little strange to me. Looks like the car's in the exact same position from one pic to the other and the guy put a different license plate on for the second pic.

Why did you switch out the license plates?

you did check the frame to see if the numbers matched up but did it
look factory stamped
reason i ask is and its tough without seeing the interior but
that car looks to be all 80-82 corvette as if someone
had a later model with no title and bought a wrecked 77
and riveted the 77 iden plate to the late models cage.

do you have a photo of the vin plate in place? and photos of
the interior

and the plates are photo shopped guys, i do the same thing when i post
car photos online

Maybe the whole car is photoshopped, that's why the pictures look strange. Pull my thumb!

I've seen a few tunnelback coupes converted to the fastback style over the years. Someone here has a 68 or 69 with the fastback back end...it apparently wasn't that uncommon in the late 70s and early 80s. Sorta like 63 split-window coupes that were converted to the full-width glass when it became available...

Default 1977 Vette

The interior is all 1977,,,steering,,steering column,,,seats,, Console,,Dash,,door panels...
It runs good,, Looks good and drives good.
And I only paid $5k for it
It was the nicest Corvette I saw for under 10k
I had it on a lift and didn't see and hidden damage like it had been in a wreck.

Since the body has been changed so much, I guess the Corvette police wont hunt me down if I trick it out under the hood? I was thinking a 383 roller motor with aluminum heads..

What is the tallest intake I can put under a stock hood?

How do I find out what rear end gears it has?

By the way.....
The 68 Nova SS in the garage isn't for sale.
It has a mean small block with a 4 speed and 4:56 read end,,, It flies...

It's good you have the 77 interior & hood.

The 77 med. rise hood allows the Victor Jr, RPM & others on SB w/ aftermarket (about 1 1/4") dropbase filter (about 3") & Holley.
