Before I push the button on a new radio, I could use a bit of help here.
I have several choices to make.
1. Buy with bezel at $450.00+
2. Buy a KHE that is supposed to fit the existing bezel at $200.00 less because of not having to buy a bezel, which looks rather inviting, however, is this KHE a good radio? and has anyone installed one in their existing bezel without any problems? Please advise, getting an itchy finger.
Thanks in Advance.
Do what i did no matter what you put in test it first .I tested mine I bought and it gad a bad hum in the cassett side of the player so I
sent it back and I now have an alpine in a cut bezel looks ok just not factory.
What year? For 77-82, buy a repro bezel and cut it (they're plastic) or keep the new repro and cut your existing bezel.
For 68-76, it's a bit more difficult since the bezels are metal. Still lots of serviceable bezels on ebay for under $200 which you could cut. Hang on to your original.

Don't confuse these with the Custom Audio Sound units which were junk. I bought mine from "The Last Detail". I think it was around $230. It sounds great.
I bought a modern CD of my choice from Crutchfield along with some Polk front speakers. Cut the stock bexel and added a front trim piece from millionbuy.com for $14 shipped.
I bought the KHE-100 for my 79 and it is underpowered. The rears have to be pumped through a small amp to get a balanced sound. The construction is decent, except for the ***** which are cheap and cheesy.
The sound is OK but I do get whine through the tape deck and I had to install multiple filters and ground isolators to get rid of overall alternator/ignition noise. Some members had similar problems that didn't exist with a higher end head unit (ie Alpine) suggesting the integrated electronics of the better units more than compensate for the "noisy" vette electonics.
To do it all over I would absolutely cut the bezel and put in a higher powered head unit that didn't require a seaparate amp. Other members seem happy with the KHE-200 so use your best judgement.

I did the same thing. Worked out great. here is my bezel out of the car and with the slot for the aftermarket radio. Purchasing that tiny trim piece will save you a lot of money.
