Headlight door question
The headlight door mechanisms each have an electrical switch mounted on them that signal if they are open or closed. I'm not sure which. What I am sure is, mine are not hooked up. One is missing and the other one has a wire cut. The doors operate fine.
So what are these switches for and is it worth the time to fix them?

There is a red light on the gauge console that tells you if your headlights are all the way up or not when you have the lights on. Red light comes on when the headlight switch is pulled and stays on until the lights lock in the up position. If you do not have the warning light on the gauge console, someone must have pulled the bulb or it is burned out.

When I first got my 75 the light on the dash would not go out (for the headlights)Then I replaced the little switches and as they go up the light comes on and then goes off.it pretty cool but not needed.The switches are also used in some alarm systems.

Thanks guys, that was quick! I plan on taking my interior out in a month or two to re-insulate it and add a decent radio, so I will have a look at that lamp when it's apart, and also buy the new switches. But, it's time for a car show tomorrow, so back to detailing it

These switches are ridiculously expensive! I think they were $45 or something per one side! I would recommend if you can just fix/clean what you have or look for a decent ones on ebay.
