I looked at a 68 today and had a question about the steering wheel. I know they came with a 16 inch diameter wheel which seems huge. The thing is so close to the seat bottom that it is tough just to slide your right leg under it when you enter the car. My questions are: Did they make a tilt/telescope, is there any adjustment up on a stock column, and has anyone found a way around this?
Thanks!

You could do like I did and just put a wheel from a '69-up on. They are a little smaller.
First switch to a 14" inch wheel, then to get in without blowing a knee, you sit then swing in. And don't drive with big shoes or flip flops, aint goin ta work in a quick situation.....
I have a '68 with the same issue, rack my shin getting in and out. The steering column seems unsually long, but have looked all over the column and can not find any type of telescoping ring release to move it, so it must be standard.
I was thinking of (at least temp) installing a 14" wheel to save my shins while I drive it around.
Has this work for anyone and is the standard column that long?
