Hi,
Please help me to make sure if I have wired my starter motor correctly.
Car was running before I took a couple of electrical parts. I got a lot of advice from folks here to check various things and I did. I am making a flat bed call if this car does not start up today
You seem to be missing the heavy wire from the battery. There should be a heavy wire from the positive battery terminal to the big terminal on the solenoid, the one where you have the double red wires connected, which is correct.

I just went through all this wiring when I replaced my starter. I can't see the battery cable in any of your photos.

Guys.. are you sure ? (Just joking.. I am sure you are)
So you are saying that the big terminal should have the battery cable also hooked on to it along with the double wire. Total three cables ?

The battery cable will be a lot thicker than the wires in your photo. On my car it is black. Also, the connection may look a little different. On my 72, the connector was L shaped so the cable could run along the side of my solenoid and then bend with the L and mate with the battery post.
Here's a picture of my '78. Notice the big black cable.
My question is, where did you connect this cable, it would be hard to miss hanging under there? If it touches any metal part there would be a dead short across the battery which could cause some major problems.

Why is there no wire connected to the third post (small one on the bottom)? Mine has 1 small wire to each post and then the main battery wire on the middle (larger) post as well.

If I recall correctly, in a car with a distributer that uses points the other terminal feeds full voltage to the coil for starting. After start the coil is fed through a resistance wire giving a lower voltage and preventing burnout of the coil.

Thats right. You should see TWO heavy gauge wires. One is the ground which bolts to the block. The OTHER is what you are looking for. Should run back towards the battery. It connects to the big terminal on the starter.
Disconnect your battery and be sure the switch is OFF while you are messing with this!
