Disaster Averted!!! FIRE HAZARD!!!!
Talk about a close call....

Dont ever buy one of these things from Summit.... the fuel gage started leaking today. Pull off the highway, got a quick whif of raw fuel so I immediatley pulled over. F'ing thing is spewing gasoline on a hot engine. Had I driven another half mile, I would have been in flames

Yep. There was a time when you could use chrome fuel lines, back when they were made in the good ol' U.S.A. Now I only use the Barry Grant kit or make my own. Someone wanted you or your 'Vette to live on!

P.S....you do carry a fire extinguisher, right?

almost lost my 81 that way. they come unscrewed with vibration, sprayed fuel all over the engine
I am going to re-plumb everything from my pump to the carb. After this scare, I dont want to take any more chances.
Gawd, I had the same piece on my '71 a few years ago and it leaked from the get-go. Took it back to Summit (I lived close by) and got another - that also leaked. The only thing I like was that the ends met up with the carb well, so I took off the gauge and plugged the hole. Cheap piece of junk...

GOOD CATCH..........YOUR LUCKY !!!
I was driving on the 401, main highway in Ontario and this fuel filter came apart. I had headers and a high volume pump. I don't know how much leaked out but the car would have been a write off for sure. I pulled off and some nice lady driving by on her bicycle said she would go get her car and drive me to the store. Up and going in 45 minutes but what a scare.

I used Lars' paper on gasline fabrication and made this setup for my 1967 with Edelbrock #1406. The tubing is 3/8" brakeline with 37*, single flares and -6AN fittings. It does not leak. The thermal reflective tape to prevent vapour-lock is probably not necessary.

I used the SS braided line for a couple of years but the fact that it is really just an attractive rubber line concerned me.
