Default The things I have learned today

I am finally getting somewhere with my car. So far this year I have dropped my gas tank to replace my fuel strainer,(car was chugging, the filter was clogged). Rerouted fuel line on the tank and redone the carb line and filter also. Car does not chug any more . Next, I noticed that it was running very poorly, Missing and burning way to much fuel, at $3.75 a gal, I cant have this. So, I first remembered what I was thught by Lars at the Detroit TFB, "90% of carb problems are ignition problems". First I checked for to see if the coil was at fault by checking for resistance across the + and -, it was a little high, replaced with spare coil. Next, pull plugs and cleaned and regap, lots of carbon. Plug # 2 and #6 were wet, replaced plug wires with MSD wires, easiest custom plugs wires I have ever cut . Took it for a spin, ran much better, but still not satisfied. Checked timing, off by a few degrees, retimed according to Lars, and went for a spin, HOLD THE "F" ON, She is rollin again Tomorrow I will pull the plugs again to see what they look like.
