I need help decoding engine #s on VIN 194679S718939
12B705283 T06C30KD on front of block
3970014 on rear
Any info would help! Car is a 1969 vert 4 spd w/ hardtop

Engine Casting #:3970014 late 72 & early 73 (350ci, 200hp or 255hp) 12B705283 = engine ID # I don't think it' corvette #.

3970014 is a Tonawonda block cast in 1972. You should be able to find a casting date on the rear passenger side of the block.
T06C30KD is very strange ...
T=Tonawonda(that part is the easy one!)
The next 4 digits will represent a month/date sequence, so that 'C' stuck right in the middle does not belong. Is that a typo?? Otherwise, 0630 is June 30th.
KD= the only 2 KD codes I can find are for a 1956 small block and 1969 big block. Again, is there a typo here?? If not, the whole thing may just be a poorly researched restamp ... ??? I say that because the 'B' in the 12B705283 indicates a Baltimore Plant location which made the Chevelle in 1969. So maybe the original Chevelle BBC engine 'crashed&burned', and this was a replacement block ... ??
