Hey guys, I'm a newbie, woohoo! I have a few questions that I didn't get fully answered in any of the searches I did of other posts:
*Is the Assembly Manual worth it? Will it actually help me or is it just a cool thing to have?
*Anybody have any experience with Eckler's, Mid-America Motorsports or Davies? Any dealers out there I should avoid?
*Where is the best place to find pictures of what the interior setup on my car "should" look like?(It was put back together - kinda - by the previous owner but not completely)
*Are all sealers and putties the same when it comes to the chrome trim around the windshield and the windshield itself?
*How much do I need to prep metal surfaces that have some rust before applying the rust inhibitor treatment stuff?
*How can I tell what pictures I have posted on my profile? I uploaded 3but I only see the one that says it is my display...I have some b4 pics I'd like to put up.
Thanks for any input! Have a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

You are asking to many questions at once so I will just answer the first one. Yes the assembly manual is worth it. Welcome to the forum.

I'll run with the second Q,
Yes I've dealt with Mid-America and Ecklers and Corvette Central, all reliable places as far as my dealings with them.

Ill take the third :-

Ask here on the forum , there is sure to be members with the same or very similar interior to yours and would post or PM you pics for you to compare. Alternatively , post pics of your interior and ask members to point out any errors.

On the GM manuel - its worth its weight in gold!!!

Welcome from Indiana

OK I will answer all you questions, Yes, sometimes, no, maybe, of cause, if you want to go for it, Depends where you live, depends on the year of your Corvette, Big Block or small block, Auto or manual.
Black is good but so is Red. Vert or coupe?

OK now you have most of the answers but not in any particular order but you have them now. So sit back and enjoy the ride.

Oh and

Except for the steering wheel a '74 deluxe interior should look close to this....

Default Thanks

WOW, You guys are so awesome! Thanks for all the info and the pic. A little history...It's a 1974 Stingray red/red with a 355 Stroker in it. The car has 66,000mi and the engine has about 1500mi. We have what is supposed to be the original engine on a stand but it's pretty gunky, looks like they left it out in the rain. The shifter console plate info is totally worn off so I have no clue if it was an L48 or L82. The other engine is a 2 bolt main which leads me to believe it was the L48, if the engine is the original. I know, I know, alot of missing info and I still bought the car...I've been in love with 74-76 since I was about 7 or 8 and it's the only investment CAR I would own, otherwise I'm a truck gal. I just might be buried in it, ya never know! lol I'll try to post my pics again. Again, thank you for all your knowledge and all the "welcome's" I'm stoked to be here!

One way to tell if it was an L-48 or L-82 is to look at your VIN and see if the fifth digit is an J or a T. J means L-48, T= L-82.........

A 355 stroker? Ok, I quess the motor in it was a 327 originally, but not really original. I'm confussed.

Absolutely. Order a reproduction owner's manual at the same time. Read through both when they arrive.

Yes to both.

Welcome to the formum...

On Ecklers, I have nothing but good things to say. Just orders a complete brake kit including calipers and hoses, fit perfectly for my '68. Do watch the overnight shipping, you may need to call to confirm, before they will actually ship. They do need to add a package tracking link to their homepage.

Take care,

Shu

I confirmed the engine we have on the stand is the original L48, 350. The guy we bought the car from had a builder in Kansas Ciity build a 355 stroker for the car but not using the original engine.

Update: It took about 3 hours to gut the interior and everything looks pretty healthy so far, little rust/damage. I didn't find anything interesting under the carpet or in the compartments and rather than just doing the interior, for now, we're going all the way! Body off, from the ground up! I'm excited but a little disappointed I couldn't enjoy it this summer and wait 'til this winter to start tearing things up! Oh well, it will be ready by next spring and I know it will be worth it. Plus, I've got that much more time to change my mind a zillion times about colors n seats n stuff. My husband just rolls his eyes and goes back to his own toys. ~Jen
