Ok guys heres the story. Ive been trying to come up with some reasons why the vette should be the one living in the garage. The ususal reasons of 'its a classic',and'it will only appreciate' are the only ones ive come up with. I feel im fighting a losing battle, but i figure you guys might need some help. Oh and the car that is currently using the garage...a 1995 suburban

If this is even an issue you are married to the wrong person.

For me, that is a no brainer. If you are only having to choose between the two, I would leave the Suburban outside. We have newer vehicles that we drive and they stay outside and the old vette stays in the garage. No way is it staying outside all the time.

Get a garage with an apartment upstairs.

That was a joke...obviously. Look into one of the storage bubbles. Maybe that will do what you need...at least in the short term while you look for a new wife.

I bought a '76 that had sat outside for about 5 years. It was a mess. It looked ok but everything underneath was rusted solid. Everytime I tried to remove a screw or bolt...Snap.
I replaced the floor boards. When I found out how much it was going to cost to fix the headlights, I got rid of it.
As far as I'm concerned, if someone can't keep one of these classic cars in a garage or car port, they should sell it. It will go from a nice car to a parts car in a matter of a few years.

When I bought my Vette new I was living at my folks house and was lucky enough to get the garage. Then in '77 my dad bought a new Caprice & informed me that I had to give it up.........

That's when I moved out..........

I did not think of that option, but it might be the one im looking for. Having my nice car become a parts car is what im trying to aviod. at least here in TX they only have about two to three snow days, and the city puts down gravel/sand instead of salt, but having a garage would be nice.

So far i have...
'Its a classic!'...didnt work
'It will onlt appreciate!'...didnt work
'To be in the garage, it needs to be insured!'...I will try that one. hopefuly it will work.
Any other suggestions?

Tell your dad that most 1995 Suburbans are probably in a junkyard already and it's pretty much worthless anyway so leaving it outside won't hurt it anymore than it already is!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, when I first got my '68 vert, I was still living at home. It was parked in the driveway. When I moved out, it was parked in apartment parking lots until I bought my first house.
