Cruise Control Available on a 1981 with 4 Speed
Does anyone know if you could order cruise control with 4 speed? Reason being I am thinking of adding cruise to the car.

I'm prety sure it was not available--I've never seen it.If you install you need to add a switch to the clutch pedal. Then you have only to worry about a slip out of gear into neutral.

I understand the want to stay factory but mostly all of the aftermarket cruise control units work much better then the factory setups, it is posssible to hook up the factory switch on the turn signal lever to a aftermarket system, or it usta be, I did the same thing a long while back on an old Dodge Warlock that I owned. But yeah you'd need that switch for the clutch pedal for sure, Peace,,,Moosie

The factory ones will go almost full throttle in a split second. Some of the after market cruises take longer to compensate for speed changes which might give you time to react. You might be able to restrict the factory unit travel on the carb.In other words the rod or chain between carb and diaphram-make it long so only half stroke is possible.

Cruise Control was a factory option(K35 for all automatics and 4 speeds in the 1981 model year. All 1980-1981 C3's gave K35 cruise control as a factory option with 4 speeds and automatic. I had a Brand New 1980 Corvette 4 speed with cruise control.>George

When I ordered my car in 79 cruise was not offered when the four speed. I went to the parts department and they had a kit to install it giving you everything you needed. The only thing I need to do was replace the lower speedo cable for a longer one. The cable in on the driver side with a auto and passenger with a four speed. 28 years latter and never had a proble not having a cluth switch, but i am the only person that drives it..it works like a dream

Do you have the '81 AIM? FWIW: I would go with the stock set up and use the AIM for installation purposes. Cruise requires a switch on the brake pedal, but I'm not sure you would need one on the clutch. IF one is needed, the AIM would show it.
