Default another aftermarket wheels question

hey folks, newbie here, looking for a little help...got a great deal on a set of (4) 19 x 9.5'' tires that i wanna put on my 1980. someone told me that they will fit the rear, but not the front unless i add fender flares

(which i would never do) - but said that 8.5'' would fit the front with the proper backspacing...found a couple members that have the 9.5'' on the front with adapters, but i'd prefer not to use them if possible.

i have'nt bought my rims yet, and was wondering if i should go with 9.5'' on the back, and the 8.5'' on the front...and just buy a couple more tires...have also heard about the need to remove, or replace the sway bar, and/or park brake cable...

any insight that could be provided would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, sell the car to a Corvette guy and buy something you can turn into a pimpmobile.

freckleface -- many of us who have been doing this for a while (I count my time in decades) know that a "good deal" on one part can turn into a more costly situation than we first imagine.

My advice would be to resell the big tires and buy a set that are proven to fit your Vette. I'm kinda old schooland and run 15's, but there are a lot of C3s out there with 17's front and back.

good luck

thanks for the advice man, but this has been in the works (and on my mind), for over 10 years...i'm on my third vet, and it's finally coming together...the 19's are a must, and cost is not really an issue!

I'm going with either 18s or 19s on my '70. Still havent looked into it much, so dont have alot of help for you, but in the resto-mod segmant 18-19 even 20s arent uncommon, and I love the look. Also note, i am the most unbling person ever. If I run into anything as far as fitment goes i'll let you know. Do you have pics, and or wheel specs, like brand and backspacing etc...?

I found this on another site. Not sure what size but there is a good chance you won't see another one like it at your next Corvette show n shine.

Without knowing much about the backspace, looking at those wheels you will have a hard time fitting them to a C3. The spokes sit flush to the outside while C3's need a dish toward the middle. They would probably work on C4's and up but it looks like you'll need at least a 2" spacer and forget the 9.5's unless you do some silly things to the ride height in the back. /:\

Look in the C3 wheel pics section.
You have to be a member to view these but it is a free sign up just like CF.
