radio install
I am hearing a lot about what a nightmare it is to install a new radio in a '76. All I am doing is swapping out the old factory with a new more modern factory radio. I have also purchased a new bezel. Is this really a tough job? Anyone got any experience with it, or a place to go for info. THANKS!!

P.S.--here is my '76. Fresh new paint job last week :-)
The new head unit needs only a few connections to operate and you can either test the original harness for the correct wires or run your own.
You will need:
12V Constant.
12V Switched. (IGN)
Ground.
Radio Antenna.
Also, keep in mind the speakers that came original in your car might be 8 OHM coils. This means they will only be handling half of the available power from the head unit.
Just a suggestion, but for good clean sound I would suggest a small 2 channel amp and a good set of coax 5.25" speakers mounted in the factory dash locations or a set of 6.5" coax speakers in the kick panels.
To go even more crazy you can install a component set in front and even a sub in the back for low frequencies.
Just go slow and be careful. Don't forget there are two screws holding the upper bezel to the shifter console. They are only accessible by removing the side panels. Look under where the shifter plate meets the gauge bezel and you will see the two screws.
