Seal under heater core?
The assembly manual is not clear in how this goes together, but the heater core just sits there with nothing holding it in place apart from the hoses when they are connected.. I think that is should at least be sitting on a seal of some sort, both to stop it rattling and also to stop air leaks around the side of it.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this and what have you done to address it, if anything.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The box seals on the firewall gasket on the inside and a foam seal on the fan motor housing on the engine side. The original firewall gasket is made of wax and jute. If you do not have one there, you can make your own from other materials if you are not building NCRS correct.
I have no real interest in NCRS ideals. I just like things to work well and not be likely to cause issues down the road.
My core can be removed without removing the small bracket that is on the left side. The core can be moved left to right etc and is not a snug fit. It is probably correct, but just seems wrong. I have posted two pics, one with the core and another with the empty heater box. I figure there should be a seal where I have drawn (badly) the red arrows. This would also cushion the heater core and not have it sitting on bare steel. I have replaced the rubber seal on the flap under the core as I see lots of posts regarding heat issues for these cars and where I live the last thing I want is more heat.
