I need herlp identifying this part. While replacing a leaking caliper in the left front of my 1974 coupe I noticed this part had quite a bit of rust and one spot of penetration. I am not sure what to call it and therfore am unable to locate it in any parts catalogs. Is it something that can be replace or would a coat of POR15 solve it. The right side is in perfect condition. Any advice would be appreciated.
I think you will need to take out the rad. support to repl. this. It is held in by rivets that are countersunk under the rad. support.
I repl./repaired the ones on my 72 and I had the support out and then I fixed mine. Or you can grind out the rivets and just let the bolts hold it in place. The bolts go thru the bracket then the fiberglass and screws into the support.
Pay attention to the bracket I used a 74 for my car and I had to add a square nut to mine the 74 did not have. It is a lot easier to modify it out of the car than in the car.
Thanks to all for the fast replies, I will be doing some searches for the part, and if I dont find one will get from Ecklers. This forum is awseome, the way you all help out. Right now I threw a coat of Por15 on it and it does not look too bad. It has not gone all the way tru yet and still feels pretty secure.
