Default Bilstein Shocks

My 82 needs new shocks and I'm gonna go with the Bilsteins. I believe the HD model is a softer ride than the sports so I'm going with HD. Who has the best price on these? I thought I remember one of the vendors offering a discount to forum members but couldnt be sure. Any insight if I was correct on this or input as to the Bilsteins themselves?
Thx ESU

Hi Cory. Try google Bilstien Shocks I found a few sites that sell them at a discount. I have the HD great shock. If you want to save a few $$ KYB gas shocks are very good also. What else have you done to the 82 so far?

I have the Bilstein Sports paired with stock front springs and a 360# A.O. Smith TRW fiberglass rear monospring on my '80. They are definately not harsh and I would not hesitate to buy them again for another Vette. All I do is cruise, no track time. This combo would give you a plush sporty ride. Bought these from Van Steel.

I did pull 4 low mileage KYB Gas-A-Just shocks off my 69 Camaro a few weeks ago and installed some Bilstein HD's. This car has a new stock suspension with the exception of the polyurethane bushings. They did not offer a Sport shock for this vehicle so I went with the HD's. Bought these from the shock warehouse online. The ride is much improved over the KYBs. Not as drastic a change with this car as it was with the Vette but still well worth the cost. The KYB's were less "stable" if that is the best way to desribe it. Maybe I should say less "bouncy" and less "fidgety" on the road now. Hard to describe but easy to appreciate. I sold the KYB's on Ebay for $50 and shipped them out a few days ago. Good riddance!

Hope this helps.

-Mark.

I finally put my Bilstein Sports on last month and I am amazed how much the ride has improved. Certainly not harsh at all, but very positive.

Only thing I've done so far is change out the boom box speakers the po put in the rear and install new factory spec speakers and grilles. I also installed new front speaker grilles as the old ones were shot. Led me to find out the front speakers were shot also so a new set of those is in order also. I had KYBs in my 79 and felt they were too stiff. One of the vendors here has Bilsteins for about 300, same as one of the vette catalogs. Just looking to see if I can get it any cheaper than that,
