Sandblast Cabinet Hopper
I'm building a sandblast cabinet and I want to know how deep I should make the hopper. The top of the hopper has to be 25" X 18". I calculated that if i make it 17 inches deep, it will hold 70 pounds of abrasive. Is this too much? How much abrasive do I actually need it to hold? Please, respond to this thread. I need to know by tonight so I can build it at school tomorrow...I only have 3 days left until it needs to be finished...tight deadline. It's going to be made out of steel. I mean I'm going to be recycling sand, so I don't think that I'll need 70 pounds of abrasive...any comments? If you can, please provide me with the dimensions of the top of your hopper and how deep it is so I have something to go off of.

That sounds about the right dimentions, I usually load about 35 lbs or so in mine. The walls need to be pretty steep so the media doesn't stick on the walls and leave the bottom empty. Also, use a good drier or a double drier, the high volume of compressed air going in the cabinet will put enough moisture in the media to make it start to clump.
