How can I cut a 5 inch hole in sheet metal?

Assuming you want a perfectly round hole a hole saw would be the best choice if you can find one that large. Other than that, drawing out the circle and using any of the above mentioned methods would work fine.

If the sheet metal isn't that thick then a Dremal with the circle cutting guide would work and get you a pretty even hole.

#1 choice would be a hole saw. It would take a few seconds and they are cheap. #2 would be a jigsaw. They are pretty easy to keep on a line if you go slow.

hand nibblers do a good job. Would be perfect for a 5 inch hole if the tin isn't too thick.
