Default LS7 + tranny in C3?

I have a 1980 Vette. I'd love to have an LS7 and the associated 6-speed stick put in there. Has this been done, or can it be done practically? If so, are there any places that specialize in it? (I'm in the Houston area so idealy something close to there would be great).

Thanks for any input.

Go to LS1Tech and check out the thread we have going in C3Tech/Performance. The LS7 isn't that much different than the LS1/2/6 swap except for the dry sump. For the transmission, just use an F-body T56.

I think the hardest part is the $13,000 it takes to buy an LS7 crate motor. Plus, you still need to buy a ton of other stuff to make it work. I'd say they'd be pretty rare on the used market too. LS1 and LS6 motors can be found at reasonable prices and can be pumped up to awesome HP with minor mods. Even stock they are all over 300 HP.

If I had the money, I'd love to do an LS7 in mine but I'll be content with the LS1.....gp

Is getting the computer to work a tough go or does it hook up easily to other applications?
