Default '75 Windshield Wiper Cover....

I have one of those aftermarket plastic windshield wiper covers and was wondering if it put an unnecssary strain on the wipers or the motor. Also, will these affect the performance of the wipers.

I'm asking because I had to use my wipers this afternoon and they didn't work..... It was only after I got out, a jiggled the wiper arm when they started to work. They worked perfectly after that (turning them off & then on as I drove)....but then they quit working again....went through the same procedure and they work just fine. I do notice when you flip the switch, the wipers move down about 1/2" then they begin to work. I also notice the stock wiper stop (without the cover) is a little lower down the glass......Could it be the cover is causing the wipers to not fully "turn off" (by going all the way down) and is putting a strain on the arms??

it shouldent, deffinatly not the motor, i was thinking of gettin 1 to keep debris and stuff out,

it could be a connection issue between the wiper and the motor, too tight too loose, something of that nature

Your cover is generic and might have to be trimmed a little bit to ensure it does not interfere with the wiper arms.

Nice job on the engine bay!! I wish I could get one of those chrome master cylinder covers to fit mine. I've purchased two of them and neither one fits so they seal off well. The second one is still airborne somewhere over southern ct!

I would take the wiper cover off and look for signs of rubbing on the underside and that would tell you whether you need to trim or adjust something.
