OK, sorry to be dumb, but I am really confused. I see a couple of set of blank keys advertised on E-Bay. One seller had a really detailed explanation of the key systems. I have a 1981 Vette. In the detailed explanation he said that the square key was supposed to fit the door and ignition. However, my round key fits the door and my square key fits the ignition. Do I have some bastard child? I don't have the original keys, but copies. Third owner.
Round one goes for the door, square one to the ignition. Course I have three extra keys that don't match in the ashtray from the previous owner. Does either of the two keys work the factory kill switch or the lock for the spare tire?

no idea about a factory kill switch. the spare tire lock is the round key (door key) spray it with some PB blast, then let her sit for a day or so, then slowly work the key back and forth till it opens. Once its open and moving freely, put a little vasaline on the lock and it will always work freely.
