Default '68 hood release

I'm sure this has come up before but i'm new to these forums so forgive me for my ignorance! Anyways, anyone have any advice on rebuilding or replacing the darn hood release mechanism on a 1968? The car is in no way original so after-market is fine.

thanks

You might find an NOS release, otherwise reproduction is all that is available. As a personal choice, I prefer the releases with a solid wire. Originals were solid and the solid is easier to work with. I cannot recommend the standed cable variety.

TIP: After the new release is installed, put a second stop on it. One stop (factory) can slip and leave your hood stuck closed. A second stop adds a little insurance. Been there, done that.

Should be down by left leg at edge of the dash pad between steering shaft and left panel. You pull the lever toward you to release the hood.
