Been looking for a "decent" set of the old American Mags, that are now called torque thrust wheels I guess, for the last 30 years or so. I currently am running 15 x 8's Corvette Rallyes and am wondering if anybody out there can tell me if I EVER do come across those mags, will I have a problem fitting the front ones so that they will not rub on the calipers or anything else in there? My '75's wheels have the 4" backing and I assume those mags will, or should be the same.

Calipers not clearing is the classic fitment issue with those wheels on a Vette. It's a shame, too. I won't recommend solving this problem with spacers, but that's one solution many others have elected.
The old Appliance Wheels will fit with no spacers.
Hard to find.
well, being an "old geezer" I guess I've been outta the loop for awhile. the other pics I've viewed show the "chrome" mags and that is not what I want. Your answer seems to be the best; I'm talking 'bout the old 5 bar mag that the spokes come to a point, and the outer lips have been turned and look nice and shiny. The ones that I've seen in the swap meets have too many knicks and scratches, and even with the adapter to turn 'em on a lathe, most of the knicks would not be able to be removed. I will keep lookin' though!!!

You would be surprised how well they can be cleaned up (turned).
The backing plate is tapered to clear the calipers. Notice the "D" in the shape of the spokes.
If you find some that need to be reconditioned, you might try looking up Stockton Wheel Service. They are close to you and they may still be doing that sort of work. I have not used them but they are supposed to be one of the best. Worth a call.
