Default Future FI project.

I'm toying with the idea of swapping to a fuel injection system like maybe tpi or even lt 1 and was wondering what the easiest way to control it is? Would a stock computer and harness be better than some of the after market control options? What are some of the best after market controllers? I won't have a huge budget so lower prices would be key in my decision.

Cool link. I heard about something I'm having trouble finding info on. It was called something squirt.

Anyone heard of something like that?

dewcustom, I have heard alot of debate on the different aftermarket systems. From your experience, what is it that sets the FAST XFI system apart from the others (Accel Gen VII, MSD, Big Stuff)?

Block, If you are not yet familiar with FI, I would look hard at the aftermarket systems. There calibration software is more user friendly and able to adapt to your unique configuration. The stock systems will probably require considerable harness rework depending on your configuration. My biggest beef about the stock system approach is that by the time you buy all the parts, and a quality Tuning Program (EFI Live, etc.), you have spent about as much as the new aftermarket systems......and, the stock ECU's that are well supported, are now getting a little long in the tooth. Just my humble opinion. Alot of guys here like the Mega Squirt do-it-yourself approach. That is a lower cost more affordable approach if you don't count your time as $$. You will also learn alot as you go.

The safest, quickest path to enjoying your car is probably aftermarket FAST, Accel, MSD, or Bigg Stuff depending on your preference. I like the Speed Density systems over MAF but that is a debate all in it's self. They all have their pro's and cons

I have accel DFI gen 7. It works good, really user friendly and the tech support guys are good to deal with.

The Megasquirt stuff takes allot of research with a considerable learning curve, but can also save some considerable money.
