I am working on a 66 Impala with factory gauges. The wiring in the engine compartment is like a Vette (so I found after a lot of heartache and checking a wiring diagram). I am having trouble with the temp gauge. Bubba added a solenoid on the firewall. When I tun the ignition to start, it pegs the meter. Vettes had a resistor on the firewall, I believe, that may have handled that prolbem. Anyone know if it is so and the specs on the resistor?

BTW I posted it here 'cause I hang out here and you guys are much more
. . . lively.

No resistor on the firewall for the temp. gage.Older vettes had a ballist resistor for the ignition.Sounds like the extra solenoid could be a problem.I dont think the temp gauge should have power to it in the "start" position only in the "on" and "acc" positions.
