Default Dash Light Question

1981 Corvette. My question is what type of illumination is supposed to be occurring on the AC/Heat Controls? Is it from above or behind. I think my is supposed to be lit, but don't know how. I am sure I have a bulb out.

As always, thanks...you guys/girls are the best.

OK, well I guess it is burned out...so what next....my shop manual does not arrive for a few more days. How hard is it to replace. There is a "rib" at the top of the area in question. Is that were the micro bulb is? Thanks.

It's a fish eye bulb, meaning the lens looks like a fish eye so it spotlights the HVAC and console. You'll want to find one specific to your year.

Well this is where the fun starts. The light goes in from the top, that means removing the center dash. There are 2 screws at the top, 2 on each side and 2 on the bottom. To get to the 2 bottom screws, you got to remove the 2 side covers.
12 screws, 1 light bulb

The vendors all have that funky little spotlight bulb, and I've heard that NAPA can get them.

is that the bulb at the very top of the console gauge cluster than comes down through almost a pinhole?

personally once I get my car moving again and continue my LED conversion, I will pick up some of these and mount them to the heater lens
