Just visit a local place like Lowes or Home Depot. They all have tags that say whether the compressor can keep up with air tools and it will usually specify which ones work and which ones won't.
Don't skimp on the gun. Avoid the Harbor Freight guns. Get a good one from a paint shop, or an Oreilly Auto part store that has a paint counter.

If you have a harbor frieght by your house they have some good prices on US General compressors. I got a 80 gallon 16 cfm model for 450 with tax.
