Default Have a few questions

Hello:
Iam kinda new to corvettes and am going to buy a C3 soon. I just came intp a little cash. So far I have found my favorite to be 71-72 war bonnet yellow with the saddle interior. I have a few questions about things I have noticed.

1. When you open the door what are those 3 holes on the right behind the doorpost that looks like a trim piece used to be there. I have seen a few that have screws or rivets in the holes , but most have the empty holes. What is that?

2. Some door panels have a screw in the upper corner closest to the front of car. Some do not. Why? are some aftermarket and some not. Which has that screw?

3. Can you tell by the trim plate if the car had the door panels with wood inserts? If so how? If you were wanting to keep one original , could you use the deluxe panels on a car that did not have it originally? would anyone be able to tell?

Thanks for all the info that this board has provided...

#1 On mine there are screws in the holes that hold the inner rear quarter panels on.

#2 Mine has the factory door panels and they have screws. I just noticed that it looks like new ones don't have 'em...

#3 The trim plate can't tell you that. The deluxe panels also came with cut-pile carpet & wood grain on the console. They fit the same as standard ones. Here's a pic of mine............

The trim plate will tell you what interior came in the car. The deluxe interior came with the wood inserts. The deluxe was the leather seats.

So a 72 with interior code of 400 would be the black vinyl, but a code of 404 would be black leather and thus would be the deluxe interior with the wood inserts. Etc.

Thanks for the replies. Nice car sevnt6. Looks really sharp.

Does anyone know if the seats are all the same on 71 and 72s?

Are there any diferences between the seats with shoulder strap seatbelts and one that doesnt have them?

can a car without the shoulder strap be retrofitted to one that doesnt have it?

I noticed a chrome fitting on the back of the headrests what is that?

thanks!!

If you are talking about the push button that is a release for the seat catch, a strip of metal which runs inside the seat to the bottom.

Mine are there but don't work......imagine that.............
