Default vacuum hoses?

I am looking to replace a majority of the vacuum lines under the hood in my 1981. Would it be best to buy the hose in bulk? What size is it?
THANKS!

I did the ones in mine that needed it, and used bulk hoses. The other alternative is to get a full kit from Dr. Rebuild, they are all to length, and have the proper color stripes. Just depends on if you want a more original looking car.

The color coded kits makes it easy to put back together if you ever take it apart. The kits are not that expensive and it makes the job go a lot easier but they do not have the molded ends like the factory installed. Most people will never notice the difference.

Buy the kit; all the aftermarket providers carry them. Bunches of them on eBay.

Buy the pre-molded kit from Doc Rebuild. Makes the whole job easy.

I read somewhere that you should buy vacuum hoses made especially for Corvettes. Apparently the Corvette vacuum hoses were specially made with extra wall thicknesses so they wouldn't collapse. Also, the molded 90 degree bends in these hoses prevent kinking. I've bought a couple of sets from Dr. Rebuild. They're supposedly made according to GM specs, have the molded bends, nicely color coded and also NOT expensive. Because of the trouble getting these hoses installed behind the dash, doesn't seem cost effective to try to do it cheaper than the Dr Rebuild price.
