RED Pace Car???
I was at an Independence Day parade this morning and a corvette club had a bunch of cars in it (Kalamazoo Corvette Club I believe).
This one car was approaching, 2-tone Red & White paint scheme unlike anything I'd ever seen before...and not in a good way. Bright red bottom, white top.
As it got closer, I could see it had stickers on it, and then could see they were pace car stickers.
I'm 99.9999999% positive this was just a strange repaint and someone thought it looked good. Anyone else ever seen a red/white pace car...or one other than silver/black?

There have been something like 8 Corvette Indy pace cars over the years. What generation car was it that you saw.
It might have been for a different race and maybe not even a GM job.

Sorry, thought it would have been obvious since I was posting in here. It was a '78 with the Indy sticker package on it.

I have seen some pace car style paint jobs that looked good but were not black and silver. Someone liked red and white at one point.

In addition to Pace Cars, the Indy 500 requires the honored mfg. to provide varrious "Festival/Parade" cars. Often in a different color from the pacers. I don't know if this is what you saw.
Then again....Bubba coulda' put som decals on his '79 cause he found a set at a tag sale. /:\
