New 1972 LT1 owner here!
I've just bought an 1972 LT1 and have some questions about the engine.
To start with the vin is 1Z37L2S506438
I've looked for numbers on the engine block and these are the numbers I've found as follows
8970010
GM30
126510973
V0104CKW
Also there are three letters in a circle with an arrow pointing at the D,the letters are N,T,D
Any help is welcomed, thank you in advance.

I just bought this car from a dealer in Perth,Ontario who collects vettes,he said that this was a non matching numbers car,but had a rebuilt LT1 engine,it sure sounds like a solid lifter engine and pulls like a freight train!
It was semi restored and has sat for about 9 years.
What should I do with this car, seek a correct engine,or modify it and just enjoy it.
I would say that the car would be judged to be in good condition overall,I'll post some pics soon.

Are you rich or poor? To find a nos matching LT1 and restore the car to original will be an expensive project.
To fix it up the way YOU want it, and drive the snot out of it, well that's just FUN!!
I guess you can figure my answer to the above question.
The VIN tells you it's a real LT-1 and the seller admitted it had a non-matching engine so nothing to check or worry about
Mosse57, drive the car and enjoy it like it was meant to be
I drove out to see the seller today to talk over the engine numbers,he seemed just as suprised as I was when I showed him the engine sufix list and compared it to the car.
When I first went to his lot I had noticed a 1969 427 vert, non matching numbers, pale yellow with a black top and guts,4 speed.
It has been fully restored, asking price $55,000.cnd.
I pulled the trigger at giving him the 1972 LT1,and $18,000.cnd
Picking the car up this friday, will post pics this weekend.
Here is the vin, maybe someone can decode it as best as they can,by the way, this is a great site, quite the fountain of knowledge resides here!
