Tail light color - light / dark ??

Default Tail light color - light / dark ??
I have noticed that the tail light lens color is darker than the tail light / back up light color ...............is this normal or something that happens because of the age of the car ??

The taillight is a lens, the backup is a reflector. When they're new, the color is pretty close, but not exact.

I've got four new tail lights on my 75 that are a month old. The two inners with the backup light in them are darker than the brake lights (the outers). They are correct tail lights.
