Default Gas Lead Additive

Is there a need to add lead additive into unleaded gas for a 1972 engine block with original valves?

No. All 71 and up C3 Corvettes were built to run on regular (87 octane) unleaded gas.

Don't let Bubba tell you different.

I use premium unleaded 95% and also put in a flash lube, the heads have hardened seats. I know it isn't really necessary but I want keep the BB going for as long as possible and the little miles it runs up doesn't matter in cost. I also don't pay for the flash lube.

No. The need for lead in these older engines is a myth. I run my 68 427 on unleaded 93. No problems. My 65 350 horse with 11:1 compression runs better on unleaded than it did on leaded. No hardened valve seats in either engine. The 65's engine was last rebuilt in 87. No problems.
