Well, im a little pissed off at the corvette drivers around my town (most are older women who dont have any clue what they are driving ) but i try to wave at every corvette i see, and call me weird but i like to look at every corvette that comes near me. There just is no more love for fellow corvette drivers (besides you guys) It makes me sad that others dont share the same love as we do, or at least the respect to even wave back, ESPECIALLY the new corvette owners. but just felt so crest fallen when i waved at a fellow C3 driver and i get a look like i am from another planet.
Im sorry just felt i needed to vent a little. So should i try to continue the wave or is it just a lost brotherhood now? Maybe its because i drive a pretty common color (black) or that im 19. Call it a crime but i love our corvettes too much
Its just a vette.
Do you think people who are driving 4X4 pickups all wave at each other.
I don't want to get all cozy with someone just because they drive a vette.
Chances are now days they are weirdos anyway.

Tim, I'll still wave to you regardless if you wave back...ever.
...i understand your 'outing'...where i live there is only a couple of vettes (a C5 and a C6 by the way...) apart mine, both driver do not wave (not even look)...BUT i get plenty of and waves from other drivers...a real enthusiast will always wave or show interest in your ride, a common sportcar driver (like most C5 and C6 drivers) won't pay a shait about you..same as 911 drivers (these ones will look elsewhere altogether, just in case a look could be understood as a challenge, that they'll loose).
Anyway i personally keep waving, smiling, showing quick starts to all those who ask for and revving the engine if a crowd of children wants to listen to some music
this has been happening since at least 1966,when I drove my first vette. (61 fuelie). Some are cool, some have their heads up "yonder" where the sun doesnt shine. My older brother was the one that clued me in on the wave. I hadnt noticed till he pointed it out to me, then told me "dont be an "azzhole",wave back.He then added, that only vette guys do this..and I pretty much found out ,its true.(except some bikes). Sooo, I always have given the wave, thinking perhaps its a new owner, if I dont get one back. Course, there is always the high brow snobs too, but ,what the heck.
in my hometown motorcyclists are really big and they uphold the wave. I usually keep the vette brotherhood going and most guys wave back, like you said the guys that know what they're driving. Unfortunately there are some people that are just oblivious to whats goin on around them and to them its just a car (sigh) but its always a good feeling to get that wave back!
Its my luck that ive only seen a total of three other corvettes while driving my c3 (since feburary). It seems like i only see alot of vettes when im not driving it. then i cant wave... I think im going to drive the vette around to get up the total and see if people in DFW know about the wave
I've gotten waves from C3,C4,C5 & C6 peeps and my car is black. My ratio is about 1 out of every 3 would wave. I guess it's because I live in a large city.
i've noticed this with the C-6 crowd mostly. i think that the it's possible that the 6 has drawn a new crowd to the corvette seen. they don't get the "brotherhood" thing. think we should make up a pamphlet and put it on the windshield of every 6 we see. just explaining the "wave"?
I got a wave from a c5 the other day. We were slowed down near an intersection in opposite direction. Two bright red corvettes, couldn't miss 'em. Saw another red c5 that wasn't so friendly. I always laugh when I see the car, it has big checkered flags down the sides and the number 98. It looks just the "Lightening Mcqueen" from the movie Cars. I wave anyway!
i find that i get more waves from c6 guys than c5 guys. which is good becuase i think that c5's are pretty much the ugliest cars around..... DEFINATELY the ugliest gen of vette around (sorry to any of you c5 owners out there... please don't take it personal).
most women don't wave, but then again most women driving vettes are driving c5's or c6's and aren't really into the "brotherhood" of vette owning in the firstplace. again - i said MOST.... i'm not trying to discriminate here. i think that the wave is appropriate. there aren't that many of us out there and with our roads mostly filled with boring p.o.s. saturns, camrys and suv's, it's a pleasure to see another enthusiast on the road.
I think if I had to tally it up, I get the least waves from C5's. C6's are about 50/50... Probably because you have a good mix of Corvette loyalists and new Corvette owners since the C6's can hang with the likes of Viper & Lotus. I've only ever owned C3's, but even I am kind of warming up to the C6.
I think what we might be seeing with C5's is that since the prices have come down a lot, a lot of first time Corvette owners are buying used C5's and just don't know about the wave yet. They'll catch on once they realize "hey why is every other Corvette owner waving to me".

You'd think they'd get the hint after it happens once or twice.
