Default C5 wheels on a C3

Can anyone tell me what spacer I need if I wanted to mount 17 x8.5 or 17 x 9.5 C5 wheels on my C3??

Thanks very much..Tony

First a little clarification. What you're looking for is an adapter. A spacer will just act as a shim between the flange and the wheel. An adapter actually bolts to the hub like a wheel and the wheel in turn bolts to the adapter. Make sure you have custom adapters made to be hub centric if you cannot find them for sale that way. The key to being hub centric is the adapters rest on the hub flange and not the lug studs.

If I remember right you're looking for 2.5" adapters all the way around, although 2.75" will give you a little breathing room and it won't be quite as tight.

Actually most C-5's have 18" X 9.5 in the rear.

Yea they do look a little out of place have had no trouble with them even with the 496 roasting them like it is nothing

adapters are to adapt one size stud pattern to another of different size, spacers are to set the wheels out further when the wheel and hub have the same pattern.

Here is pic of a 2.5" adapter as installed on my rear rotor. Note the lip protruding from the center of the adapter. You want to have this. Make sure that the adapter you purchase has this lip. I had to have the front adapters machined to clear the front hubs properly. I know of another forum member who used these sames adapters and was able to file them to fit the front hubs.

I purchased these off ebay from a seller named "completevalue". Another forum member also purchased from this person. VB&P also sells adapters, however, there is some confusion about their adapters. If you look at the pic in their catalog the adapters do not appear to be hub and wheel centric. In other words, they do not have the recess on the backside and the lip refered to in my pic on the front side. Without these the wheel will rest on the studs only... not good. You may want to contact VB&P first and see if their adapters are in fact hub and wheel centric. Like I said their catalog picture does not show their adapters to be hub/wheel centric. See for yourself...

Frankenvette and Chevymans77 I got a question for you guys!!

By going with these wheel adapters and the C5 & C6 rim does it throw off your steering geometery??

I can't provide an accurate answer to your question. My front suspension/steering is in need of a rebuild, so the steering geometry was already off. I did not notice any changes to the steering switching to the C5 wheels but it is hard to say for sure.

If you didn't notice any changes, then hopefully it doesn't affect it..
Thanks
