Sorry I didn't get a chance to scan the forum to see if this question has already been answered, but i've gotten myself into a jam with inspection coming up real soon. When I put the turn signal on, the bulbs light up but do not flash. Likewise, the arrow on the dash stays solid and does not blink. When I put the hazard lights on, however, all of the lights flash properly. Has anyone had this type of problem before? I was thinking that replacing the flasher would be the quick and easy solution, but then when I discovered the hazard lights work fine I got a bit confused. Any suggestions?
I could be wrong here but on my Monte Carlo i have two flashers, one for the flashers and the other for the turnsignals. If you can find another flasher under the dash try swaping them around to see if that will make the turnsignals flash.
There are 2 (#552) Flashers on a C-3. Its been awhile but I am sure one is located on the Drivers side under the dash either at the fuse panel or hanging under there and the other on the passenger side under the dash. I am pretty sure on the earlier C-3's you need to take that right side panel down under the dash pad to get to the other flasher.
It could be as easy as a problem with your bulbs. Mine did that EXACT same thing and i took one of the bulbs out and found that one, the contacts were dirty, and two it was not plugged in all the way.Thats what fixed mine i hope its as simlple of a problem with you
My 75 did the same thing after I put my back bumber on it turned out to be the ground was baaaad. cleaned it up painted it up works great .Hope this is the problem as it should take as long to fix as this post.
it's the blinker under the passenger side dash. it should be clamped in underneath. no tools or special products required, just reach under there and you'll be able to find it, remove and replace it with like blinker from any run of the mill auto parts store for afew bucks. the whole process should take about....... 2 minutes, if that!
Quick check - if the two flashers have the same prong arrangement (a lot of GM's of that era do)- swap them and see if the emergency lights don't flash and the turn signals do. Problem identified.
