This picture is from a Corvette a day calendar I got for Christmas. A couple of weeks ago this picture popped up:
I'd never seen it before, so I did a couple searches on the Internet and found nothing, which I thought was odd. I also have a couple of Corvette books that make no mention of it. Does anyone know anything regarding the background of this particular car? Thanks

Looks like someone took a good looking Corvette and did their damndest to make it look like a Toronado.

That looks like no GM prototype/concept/show car I have ever seen. I don't believe that it is. It looks like someone photoshopped a Dodge Charger front end onto an early C3
No photoshop. If you look closely in the margin it says "Courtesy of General Motors Corp., GM Media Archives." So unless the publisher of the calendar or GM is trying to pull a fast one, I believe it to be legit. The ironic thing is the date for the calendar (which I cropped out) is Friday the 13th.
I find the car quite unattractive as well, especially compared to the other Corvette prototypes of the period. The front end, the shape, and those wheel covers. Maybe that is the reason there is no info out there about it.

I was thinking the same thing. It's no wonder we have never seen it before. It's ugly as he!! GM was probably trying to hide that picture.
If they would have made that I would be driving a FORD!!!!
This could have been the death blow to the corvette, especially with the impending gas crisis and emissions requirements which ended the muscle car era and a lot of other iconic models; thus making way to the imports.
