I've been waiting many years for the kids to get through college and get married off so I could have my mid life crisis! I found this 81 at a friend's car lot. He was considering buying it from a woman who just got it in a divorce but he gave me first shot at it. It is Autmn red with camel interior, the paint is flawless and was only 2 months old, the interior has no tears or cracked and is in really nice condition and the car is very well optioned and everything except the oil pressure gauge works. I got it for $8,800 and had her put new tires on it. It only has 76,000 miles and runs like new. It was worth the wait!

Jon
Good luck with it Jon. Glad you got that heavy weight off of your back. I know I had one graduate college last year but I only had one to contend with over the years. Still have the marriage thing to deal with down the road for her. That could be really expensive from what I hear. Anyway enjoy your C-3 Corvette. Sounds like you got a great deal for the money. Stay tuned to this forum. You will learn alot about your car and if you like to be a hands on type of owner you will gain real knowledge here on the forum so that you can do some or most of the work needed to keep your car up down the road yourself. If not you will get advice as where to take it from others in your area.
Jon,
Great looking Vette and love the color. Good score!
You will need to replace the front chin spoiler (rubber strips that attach below the front bumper). They were probably taken off for the paint job and not replaced.
c'mon jon! you should know better than to let the seller pick your rubber! oh well, she still looks great and i'm glad your happy! welcome to the forum!
Thanks everyone for the great welcome. I'm looking forward to picking your brains as I finish off the details. I have restored many old Mustangs but have always wanted an 80 or 81 vette.
It does need a lower valance extension. I took it off as it was torn and not replaced when the car was painted. The new pair is on order. And yes I did let her pick the tires, but I gave her two choices, the Goodyear Eagle II or the Firestone Indy Firehawks, she chose the Firestones. Frankly, I did not think she would go for it anyways so I did not push my luck for the Goodyears! She was desparate to get it sold so she took it directly from my friend's lot to the tire shop to my house, she could not sign it over to me quick enough.
