Default Weekly Car Care

recent post got me thinking... what do most of you do for weekly car care? i drive my '71 about 20 miles a day, every day to work, and by the time the weekend comes, i want her looking new again! i typically would wash every friday, but it seems like many of you only use a california duster here and there and only wash every few months!!!! how the heck??? what about road grime, etc? any reccommendations for me seeing as how i do put on sig miles? if i am "gentle" in my weekly bathing (low pressure h20) and keep up with my waxing every 3 months should i be ok or am i beeing too harsh on the paint job?

TIA!

I use the meguiars (spelling probably wrong) quick detail spray between washes and am very happy with the results. I think it also helps your wax last longer on your car. I will make sure there is no heavy dust or dirt on the car when I start. If there is light dust I use a duster to knock it off then use the spray. I only drive on nice days and weekends though so I dont know how this will work for you. Good luck, and take a ride for me

yeah, I think your problems is you drive it every day, and most of the people here don't, only on nice days. I also am a member of the California duster club, and meguiars qwik shine when needed. My car rarely gets washed. If I drove it every day, I don't see any way around washing it regularly like you do.

thanks - i use the meguiars stuff as well. i need to get a duster i guess. the think is that, where is live in northern cal the weather is almost always perfect. dry, mild, low humidity, never too hot, never too cold, and i park indoors both at work and at home so it's hard not to drive the shark! i know.... sad story, huh. thanks for all the input. any more tips would be appreciated as well. what do you all think of micro-fiber shams and all that stuff?

Get a duster, they will save you many washings and help keep your car from rust. I dust mine in the morning before I go out and dust it before I head home (keep it in the car) it only takes a couple of minutes to dust the whole car. I also only wash my car with a damp towl and follow right behind with a clean dry towl and or with some detail spray. very easy and fast way to keep a car looking nice.
